Learn more about Slow Fiber and our commitment to a sustainable supply chain.

What is Slow Fiber?

Slow Fiber is a network of Italian companies working in the fashion and furniture textile supply chain to promote products that are not only beautiful but also good, healthy, clean, fair and durable. Read the Manifesto.

What are the values of Slow Fiber?

Slow Fiber is a network of Italian companies that offer products that are not only beautiful but also good, healthy, clean, fair and durable and are committed to applying these principles throughout the textile supply chain. Good defines the business model and the link with the territory, healthy expresses the attention to the health of consumers and people involved in production, clean represents the constant commitment to reducing environmental impact, fair represents the protection of workers and the guarantee of safe and healthy workplaces, and durable represents the commitment to offer quality products that are repairable and intended to be used for a long time. Read the Values.

Why Slow Fiber?

Slow Fiber is not an association of activists but a network of textile companies that through their production activities and daily commitment want to demonstrate concretely that an industrial model is possible that offers products that are not only beautiful but also good, healthy, clean, fair and durable. Read the Manifesto.

Who can join the network?

Each company that carries out a production step of the textile supply chain within its plants and respects the principles of good, healthy, clean, fair and durable can join the Slow Fiber network. Each of the values indicated is defined by certain measurement criteria (so-called KPIs) of which the mandatory ones, which are about 20, must be met.

Why does Slow Fiber produce directly?

Each Slow Fiber company carries out within its own factories a production step in the long and complex fashion and furniture textile supply chain that starts with the textile fiber and through the stages of spinning, dyeing, weaving, finishing, dyeing, cutting and making up arrives at the finished product.

What is the difference between Slow Fiber and Fast Fashion?

Slow Fiber is a radically alternative model to so-called Fast Fashion for the fundamental reason that it does not offer low-quality products that are destined to be used a few times and then disposed of as waste, and it is not structurally based on the overexploitation of natural resources far beyond their rate of regeneration and of the people involved in the production processes.

Why choose Slow Fiber instead of Fast Fashion?

Slow Fiber companies take responsibility for the environmental impacts of their production processes and take care of the people involved in them. The fast fashion model that elevates waste, environmental and social exploitation, and environmental pollution to a system, especially in terms of waste produced, does not take any responsibility for these enormous environmental and social costs, which are instead passed on to the community, which has to deal with them through its taxes.
