Maglificio Maggia is a historic company in the Biella textile district; occupies the original factory of 1780 in Occhieppo Superiore, on the slopes of the Pre-Alps, the Maggia family has been in the textile sector for 9 generations. In the 70s and 80s the Maggia brand was known in the sports sector as the Maglificio Maggia produced and marketed garments that were worn by listed athletes of the time (Vitas Gerulaitis, John Newcombe among others); since the mid-1990s, the company has chosen to concentrate its busi- ness on the production and marketing of knitted fabrics produced on circular looms for luxury customers.
The current weaving department has about 40 latest generation circular looms which are used for the processing of various fibers, from cashmere to silk, passing through wool, alpaca, linen and cotton; the proposal of fabrics is therefore very varied and satisfies the needs of brands known all over the world in the luxury sector who find in Maglificio Maggia the ideal partner for the study and creation of personalized products.
The company is led today by Umberto Maggia, chairman of the board of directors and majority shareholder, assisted by his sons Giovanna and Ludovico.
